We stopped here as a family of 5 for some
Dinner. The pub looked inviting and was clearly full of regulars.

The food came out quickly and was first class. The landlady cooks the food and she does a great job.

The play park out back is dated and needs an overhaul.

Went there on the off chance for a meal when on a break in IOW.
We both ordered the fish and chips - it arrived within a good amount of time and was really tasty. The batter as well as the chips were some of the best I've eaten. The right amount of crunch, light to eat and not sloppy. Plus the tartare sauce had an extra flavoursome bite to it. We both really enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back.
There were only a few people in the pub, but they chatted as we passed  (one about my t-shirt, another about our bike) and so we weren't made to feel unwelcome.
There was a choice of soft drinks including elderflower - which was appreciated.

This was a nice pub. The food was sub standard apart from the fish and chips which is incredible, unfortunately the crab salad was the opposite.
Its nice that they have a little kids park and they are dog friendly. They also have kids toys to help distract kids.

10 of arrived Saturday evening on a preserved bus, from the Rydabus weekend, and we were made felt so welcome. We all had food, and the bar maid was superb. Very helpful, friendly, and no stress. We were all impressed with our meals. I last went in the TJ in 1988/90, when Ruth and Derek ran it, was good to see the mural still there with their names on it.

I can't believe i've lived for the island for years and never knew about this pub! I saw it on the iow facebook community board so my husband, my dog and i went there today for a roast. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was great too! They even did a doggy roast for £6! Its child friendly too with a play area outside.
